Abruzzo is a beautiful region in the heart of Italy; it is a combination of culture, enchanting landscapes and nature, where the view extends from the sea to the mountains in a few kilometers. A region where wine production is widespread enough to make Abruzzo wines recognized and recognizable by their unique names and characteristics. The wines of Abruzzo are divided into a single DOCG, 7 DOC and 8 IGT. The most famous wines in this region have always been, and still are, the Montepulciano d’Abruzzo for red wines, and the Trebbiano d’Abruzzo for white wines.
The widespread Trebbiano d’Abruzzo, obtained from the homonymous white Abruzzese grape, is known and appreciated for its qualities of freshness and minerality, that mirrors a region with gentle hills gently sloping towards the blue sea. Trebbiano d’Abruzzo expresses fruity and floral notes of apple and chamomile, accompanied by a good minerality on the palate.
In Abruzzo, Montepulciano is for red wines what Trebbiano is for white wines. Fruity aromas are followed by intriguing spicy scents that are often enhanced by a short passage in wood. Structured, soft and long-lasting, it is perfect not only with traditional dishes but also in combination with oriental dishes with a bittersweet tendency. These characteristics make it a great wine as such, but make it particularly noticeable also in blends with other grape varieties – a typical use of Montepulciano when cultivated in other regions.
