Flavino – A Nice Misunderstanding
“They call him Flavino to say that Flavio (Fanti) makes wine (vino)”. This is how Luca Fanti thought as a child about the nickname by which everyone in Montalcino knew his father Flavio. However, he was mistaken; his father was “Flavino” as in “little Flavio,” named after his grandfather Flavio. Nonetheless, the family liked the play on words so much that they wanted to dedicate a wine to it. And here we are!
